Spent a wonderful weekend with Dharma Master Hsintao in Ulanbator last week. I was told that he could be the reincarnation of the great Ogedei Khan...well, the Master was accompanied by Ching-gis" Khaan (cough) :-P
Master Hsintao gave a speech (and this link ; BIG5 Chinese) about how modern technology can help Mongolia promote the good traditional buddhist culture and therefore help boost the economic development in Mongolia. President Enkhbayar was impressive by Master's talk and arranged time to meet with the Master afterwards. The two exchanged further thoughts on how buddhism can be brought back to the young generation of Mongolia and how technology can help. I had the privilege to act as the intepretor for the Master, and then had the chance to introduce myself to the President.
We were there to celebrate the life of H.E. Bakula Rinpoche, and participated a series of conference regarding Challenges of Buddhism in Modern Mongolia. More about Buddhism in Mongolia after 1990 can be found via this link.
I am very happy to announce that this year's Golden Melody Award, the Grammy Awards equivalent in Chinese, will use .Asia web address for Mando-Pop music fans across the whole Asia!
The official website has been setup at http://www.gma2008.asia . See press release here. The Award ceremony will be held on July 5th, 2008, in Taipei Area. I am on a serious diet plan for the red carpet ;-)
While listing .Asia names for Best male, female, and new artist nominees, I found:
Warner Music has already registered Yanzi.asia (孫燕姿) as a trademark in 2007
Amei.asia (張惠妹 or 阿妹) has been registered by a "fan"...forwarding to Ameicn.com . Amei.cn was taken down due to ICP license issue. A-mei.asia therefore is the best name we can reserve at this point. I did spoke to Amei's agent a few times earlier this year though...
Shin.asia (阿信), Tank.asia were also taken...
More to share on later posts. Thanks AzioTV (東風電視) for working day and night and make this happened!
