ENUM BoF

James quickly organized an ENUM BoF this evening and Yoneya-san explained to all who are interested in SIP/ENUM/VoIP about our APEET trial. In the venue we saw many well-known experts and they are impressed by how a simple system handle the calls.

Good Kyoto APRICOT Experience

Some good experiences I have so far in this APRICOT Kyoto meeting:

• Saw beautiful snow flake when setting up the APEET trial on Sunday evening. This time we are at a wonderful meeting venue within the Takaragaike area (the big pond of treasure ^_^). Got to do some sightseeing then....
• Met Joi Ito in APNG Camp. I did not know that he's very much an America-influenced Japanese but I do like his speech and the logic behind. Look forward to having him in Taipei during TW Blogger Fair.
• Went KARAOKE with Peter, Chris, Keith after the APTLD dinner. The way they sang was like NZ won the world rugby game :-) I was also amazed by the Karaoke machine, it's like a song server, an earth collection of music!!
• Since APEET provided WiFi phone services, it's good to see many people don't have to talk to their laptop. In the past several APRICOT you can see a a bunch of computer maniac sharing their secret live with a computer~~
• My first APTLD meeting without being in the Secretariat team. Ai-Chin's first term as the board member. I think this time collectively we've done an amazing job in APTLD, APRICOT, APNIC, APEET, APNG, etc., in the post-Vincent-Chen era of TWNIC.
• Dr. Tseng made joke on my email to him regarding travelling from Kansei Airport to the APRICOT meeting venue in Kyoto. He found the best way is to ignore my email so the route would be shorter and ticket would be cheaper. I was just trying to be naughty la....

ENUM has become popular in this Kyoto APRICOT thru the effort made by APEET, or Asia Pacific Enum Engineering Team. Thanks to Yoneya-san and his JPRS colleagues who has made tremendous effort for this exciting collaborative trial.

My ENUM is 0109. I can be reached by 300 others who use SIP-based WiFi / software phone. I can also make call to SG, TW, CN, USA (provided by Jeff Pulver) and Sweden (Patrik Faltstrom).

James (the chair of APEET with many other hats) also blogged this historical moment.

This is Hitachi phone that we are using.... and Hitachi offered an incredible 5000 Yen discounted price!! This good-looking advanced gadget sold out in simply 3 hours, even before the official APRICOT program begins. Panasonic also provided a cordless phone (2.4GHz house phone + WiFi function).

At Least I Tried

這是有關喬琥的國文考卷.

小犬喬琥成功通過期末國文測驗. 92分. 其中最後一題考到唐朝李白的"床前明月光"那首詩.

當天他回家告訴我說, 考試卷有一題他看不懂(~~原因是當天早上我太晚送他去學校, 以致於他沒有複習到)沒把握, 但是他說他寫寫看,希望老師可以給他一些分數. 他堅定地說, "At Lease I Tried".

Long Time No Blog

I think it's been nearly one month or so that I have not been able to write anything. So here comes the Chinese New Year holiday, why not blog it :-)

I have been working like crazy since Jan. 7th, the day that I became the project manager for IPv6 Program Office in Taiwan. It's the time for reviewing the past and planning the future, and the time for 500-page report or 100-page ppt file for a 10 minute presentation, once a week. It brought me back to the MBA program--Be precise and accurate! Use just 1 sentence to describe the product feature and made it sold! (on government's term--secure the budget!!)
