基本上是好事一件. 內容遠比一些美麗女主播的Blog更有深度. 但一般說來, 藍軍的政治家們對於Internet / Blog的操作是遠弱於綠軍的. 當然無名的版型也很醜, 無法彰顯李委員的專業...

我發現李老師和同學們可能不擅利用trackback功能. 我就先來一個....

另, 我想李老師很快就能編制出Blogosphere的經濟模型~~

We are the WEB

Very inspiring article by Kevin Kelly on this issue of Wired Magazine.

We need to remind ourselves to be creative, as was those who created the Internet. Vint Cerf said so, Kofi Annan too. This is however a high level concept because in the operational level, we wish to make sure nothing goes wrong and everything runs well in the existing networks. Talking about changes, innovation, and creativity usually lead us to big cost and trouble. Wikipedia, Blog, Skype are only rare & good surprises. Too much unwelcome surprises (to me NAT is one). Nevertheless, being creative in our time could be difficult, but how could we not to!

Seeing is believing,  but sometimes, you have to believe it before you see it (very ZEN...). The WEB is like the later one. It is all about "hypertext and human knowledge", something actually make us bored if we don't insist seeing the whole picture.

This dismissive attitude pervaded a meeting I had with the top leaders of ABC in 1989. I was there to make a presentation to the corner office crowd about this "Internet stuff." To their credit, they realized something was happening. Still, nothing I could tell them would convince them that the Internet was not marginal, not just typing, and, most emphatically, not just teenage boys. Stephen Weiswasser, a senior VP, delivered the ultimate putdown: "The Internet will be the CB radio of the '90s," he told me, a charge he later repeated to the press. Weiswasser summed up ABC's argument for ignoring the new medium: "You aren't going to turn passive consumers into active trollers on the Internet."....I was shown the door. But I offered one tip before I left. "Look," I said. "I happen to know that the address abc.com has not been registered. Go down to your basement, find your most technical computer guy, and have him register abc.com immediately. Don't even think about it. It will be a good thing to do." They thanked me vacantly. I checked a week later. The domain was still unregistered.

I think people have learned from story like this. Recently I talked to many of the corporate executives in Taiwan about how they should seriously take blogosphere into their PR / marketing strategy. They sit down and pay attention to it. There shall be something more that could be done, by using the traditional business model which the execs can understand or have much for control over it, but the medium shall be, the (better & faster) Internet. 

Aichi Expo: What a show!

There's definitely a lot for me to say about my experiences in Aichi Expo in Japan. I plan to spend times on writing in good quality.

I am amazed again how Japanese organized this huge event and take care of small details. I so much enjoyed the new central international airport and the rapid train linking the nagoya city and the airport. More photoes and stories to be uploaded soon. I've got to get back to work now ...-_-

BTW, I stayed in Kariya city this time (around 20 mins by express train from Nagoya). Very nice little town. Missed the Mando festival...a pity.

Some interesting photoes first:

Typo: Picky-Picky. But found one at the entrance of Spanish Pavilion. They failed to print out the Japanese character "100 million" (see that "?") on one of the flags. I highly recommend all visiters to the Aichi Expo should make a stop there! The building itself is a piece of art!

WSIS Education: In the Tunisia Pavilion, they provide a booth for information about WSIS, or World Summit on the Information Society. So I took this opportunity to educate my kids about how important WSIS is! They did pay attention to me for 2 seconds. Later my kids told me "WSIS" sounds like a flying bug that never goes away. It does not, my sons!

Waiting for the robot: Toyota Pavilion is definitely the best. But we wait. I mean we wait....for 3 hours to get the admission ticket. Only 650x3 seats available, but more than like 3000 people lined up for the show. We are lucky / early enough to get 4 seats. The show itself has been famous by various introductions on TV or magazines. But no picture during show. I tried but was seized by the staff :-P. Basically the robot is alive, but everyone in the show became robot-like audience...We were instructed when to applause, when to be surprised, and when to hurray. Nevertheless, it was definitely the highlight of the entire Expo!

(click to enlarge the photo)....so it took 140 minutes to see Germany, only 20 minutes to see Italy. Is it an issue on efficiency or attractiveness? :-P

Beat It

I tapped this re-make of Michael Jackson's classic hit "Beat It" in a record store near Westbahnhof Vienna weeks ago. Did not get the chance to ask about who did this funny-Jazz version. Anyone knows about it?
